Join Mark and Maciej as they provide an inside view of the digitisation process for the Darwin Correspondence Project at Cambridge University Library. They will discuss Darwin and incorporate some of the GLAM principles used in the project.

Mark will cover project setup, equipment, workflows, conservation, and the famous “missing notebooks” containing the Tree of Life. Maciej will discuss how Cultural Heritage photography is different from other industry practices. And how they use Multispectral Imaging (MSI) and other advanced photographic techniques to learn more about items form Darwin‘s collection.
The Darwin Correspondence Project published transcripts of letters written by and to Charles Darwin. It included contextual notes and articles and was critical for understanding the development of his ideas and the lives and work of over 2,000 people mentioned in the letters.
