A wonderful diversity of marine animals live ‘on our doorstep’ here in the UK. They are colourful not only in the visual sense but in their surprising and intriguing behaviour. From self-decorating crabs to communicative cuttlefish and from argumentative sea anemones to nest-building fish, Paul Naylor will show how he tells their stories through underwater photography and video.
Underwater photography is often associated with warmer, tropical locations but Paul will describe the appeal of focusing on what is right here, how it is worthy of our attention and deserving of much better care.
About Paul:
Paul Naylor is a marine biologist and underwater photographer with a passion for showing people what beautiful and fascinating animals live around the British coast, through articles, talks, films, social media and TV, as well as his book – Great British Marine Animals.
The creatures’ intriguing behaviour and colourful life stories are the particular focus of his still photography and video, both for scientific research and to engage audiences. His footage has appeared on the BBC’s One Show, Blue Planet UK, Countryfile and Autumnwatch.
Paul works with conservation organisations and the media to raise the profile of our wonderful marine life and the importance of caring for our seas.
